NEW POLITICAL PARTY HOPEING FOR ZUMA TO JOIN THEM IN DENT ANC AT THE POLLS

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Is former President Jacob Zuma the latest African National Congress (ANC) veteran to defect?

Some officials within the organization believe he is linked to a party called uMkhonto weSizwe (MK), which is named after the ANC’s armed wing.

The Electoral Commission (IEC) has already registered the party.

These concerns come on the heels of the resignation of struggle veteran Mavuso Msimanga and a poster with an image of Zuma but no ANC logo circulated on social media.

Zuma plans to spend the 16th of December, the anniversary of MK’s founding, in Soweto.

According to Eyewitness News, a group is attempting to retell the ANC’s origin story, with the hope that churches and traditional leaders will join forces with politicians to change South Africa’s political landscape.

While some in the ANC believe Zuma should campaign on its behalf to avoid a disaster at the polls in provinces such as KwaZulu-Natal, some linked to this new movement believe he should help save the ANC from the outside.

Insiders from the project have told Eyewitness News that it is critical to bring the ANC to its knees to save the organization’s soul, which they believe can be accomplished through electoral decline.

Several meetings with leftist formations, including the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), are also said to have taken place.

On Saturday, Zuma will visit Avalon Cemetery’s Heroes Acre, Mam Winnie Madikizela Mandela’s home, and the Petros Molefe Eco Park.

He will also speak to members of the media to commemorate MK’s 16th anniversary.
